Invicta FC Maureen Riordon Joins The SnP Show Thursday

April 20, 2015DENVERFight Fans and Warriors around the world LOCK IT INTO The SnP Show ‪MMA radio‬ hosted by Syndee and Poetrynmotion Thursday night at 7pm MT for a JAMPACKED show of the latest MMA news in the headlines this week, UFC on Fox 15 results, fight announcements, The Ultimate Fighter Brazil recap and of course our Invicta FC 12 fight predictions. Special guest Invicta FC 12 Maureen “Baby Face” Riordon will be joining us to close out our Invicta 12 series.

Born August 18, 1983 in Denver, Colorado, Maureen “Baby Face” Riordon took the more academic approach to life graduating high school at 16, exploring her passion of writing, and starting her own business. It wasn’t until January of 2010 that she found an MMA gym quite by accident. Interested in losing weight, meeting new people, and giving her life a complete make-over, she started training and quickly found an athlete she never knew was hiding within her.

Claiming seven gold medals in no gi grappling within her first nine months of training, she began training to fight in the Fall of 2010 and finally landed her first fight in June of 2011. Completing her amateur career as 4-2 in MMA, 1-0-1 in kick boxing, and 0-1 in boxing, Baby Face sought to make her professional debut in March of 2013 before she took a significant injury in training that pulled her out for over a year.

Finally back in the game, this bantamweight figher has made an ambitious run this summer making her professional debut in kick boxing for Glory World Series on May 3, 2014, her professional debut in MMA for Resurrection Fighting Alliance on July 25, 2014, and her professional debut in boxing for Nordic Coliseum Boxing on August 15, 2014. Three months and three professional debuts (well, three months and 12 days, but who’s REALLY counting?).

Despite losing her professional debut in MMA, Invicta Fighting Championships, the highly esteemed all female/all pro MMA promotion every up and coming female fighter has their eyes set on, came calling and signed Baby Face to a multi-fight contract in August of 2014. Backed by her team at Easton Training Center in Boulder, Colorado, Maureen is excited to be representing such an empowering organization.

However, Baby Face’s goal in combat sports isn’t like most fighters. While she of course would love to go as far as she can in combat sports, her true goal lies in using the medium combat sports provides her to be able to reach out and help motivate and inspire the world to stand up and pursue their dreams at all costs. Through her NPO The Baby Face Foundation, she reaches out to the community in an effort to leave a lasting positive impact. Her current focus lies with children, but she plans to eventually expand to all demographics. Baby Face has been known to donate a portion of her proceeds from several fights toward sponsoring various youth movements that encourage the pursuit of excellence within children (sports, performing arts, academics, leadership, etc.). Her most recent sponsorship was of the Pink Panthers, an ages 6-7 female softball team. With a program she dubbed Team Baby Face Heroes, she reaches out to her fan base and receives their support in sponsoring these organizations.

Aside from her training, she is also a mother of two, a coach at UFC Gym in Westminster, Colorado and a writer. Within the year, she will also have her Bachelor Degree in Nutrition Sciences, effectively helping her reach her goals to inspire and aide others in reaching theirs. An avid lover of the outdoors and most especially the mountains, she enjoys utilizing all cross training opportunities possible that get her outside and surrounded by the Colorado mountains she loves.
